FAQs
Bexley removals — your questions answered
The things people ask us most about moving in and out of the borough — the practical stuff on access, man and van, single items, clearance, storage and moving abroad.
Local & access
Moving in Bexley
Which parts of Bexley do you cover?
The whole borough across the DA postcodes — Bexleyheath, Welling, Erith, Crayford, Belvedere, Blackfen, Barnehurst and Old Bexley. We keep clear of Sidcup proper, which has its own site, and we run quick local moves as well as trips into London and out to Kent.
Can you get a van onto the Bexleyheath Broadway to load?
Yes, with a plan. The Broadway and the town-centre streets carry loading restrictions, so we work out the legal spot and the right window ahead of the day and expect a carry from wherever the van can stop. Planning the loading is half the job on a town-centre move.
Do you cover the Erith and Belvedere riverside flats?
Regularly. The newer riverside blocks around Erith and Belvedere often have loading bays and lifts that need booking, and sometimes it is a stair carry. We check the access and book what needs booking before we turn up, and bring the hands to carry it safely.
Are you the same as bexleyremovals.co.uk?
We are a sister site, split by what we lead on. This site (bexley-removals.co.uk, with the hyphen) leads on man and van, single items, and student and flat moves. The main bexleyremovals.co.uk site leads on general residential house moves. Between them the borough is covered, and you land on the team that fits your move.
Do you move to and from Kent as well as London?
Yes. Bexley sits right on the Kent border, so moves out to Dartford, Gravesend and the Kent towns are as natural as trips into south-east London. And that Kent-edge position gives our European moves a genuine head start to the Channel.
Services & pricing
Man and van, and getting a price
Will you move just a single item?
Yes — a single sofa, bed, fridge, wardrobe, piano, antique or wrapped painting. It is the job most removals firms will not take on its own, and it is exactly what we are set up for. Priced for the one item, not a whole move.
Do you help load, or just drive?
We help — carrying, loading, securing the load and unloading at the other end. This is a proper man-and-van service, not van hire. If a job clearly needs two people, we will say so before the day rather than leave you short.
Is a man and van cheaper than a full removals firm?
For a small load, usually yes — you are paying for the van and the help you actually need, not a big lorry and a full crew. We size the van and the hands to the job and give you a fair price for the load you have got.
Do you do student and first-flat moves?
Yes — halls, first flats, house-shares and end-of-term shifts, across Bexley and into London. A room’s worth of belongings gets a fair price for a small load, carried up the stairs, and booked around your dates.
Do you charge for a quote?
No — quotes are free and come with no obligation. For a small job we do not need a drawn-out survey; a few details and a photo or two of the bigger items are usually enough for a clear, fair price by email.
How do I get a price?
Send the details through the quote form — what is moving, both addresses, the floor and access, and a photo of the big items if you can. We read it and reply by email with a clear, no-obligation price. No guessing on the phone, no pressure.
Clearance, storage & Europe
Clearance, storage & moving abroad
Do you do house clearance?
We do. Homes, flats, garages and lofts cleared across the DA postcodes — old furniture, appliances and clutter loaded, taken away and reused, recycled or disposed of responsibly. Probate and end-of-tenancy clearances are handled sensitively, and a clearance can be combined with a move.
What happens to the stuff you clear?
As much as possible is reused or recycled rather than sent to landfill — usable furniture and items passed on, recyclables sorted, and only genuine waste disposed of properly. We aim to clear responsibly, not just to the nearest skip.
Do you offer storage in Bexley?
Yes — clean, dry, secure storage as part of your move. It suits a gap between homes, a sale going through, or a spell abroad. Your things are collected, held on a labelled inventory and brought back by the same crew, so there is no separate hire to arrange.
Which European countries do you move to from Bexley?
We run regular routes from Bexley to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Each has its own page with the route, the regions we reach and how the customs paperwork works. Bexley’s closeness to the A2 and Dover gives the France route in particular a real head start.
Do you handle the customs paperwork for a move abroad?
Yes. Since Brexit an EU move needs a customs declaration and a detailed inventory, and used household effects can usually come in under transfer-of-residence relief when you are moving your main home. We prepare the declarations and transit documents and tell you exactly what to provide.
Can you collect from outside Bexley for a European move?
We can. Bexley is our base, but we collect across London and, where it suits the route, from cities like Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh. If part of your move is elsewhere in the UK, we build it into the same run.
Are my belongings covered while you move them?
Your goods are handled with care and covered in transit and in storage. The specifics of cover and any excess are set out in the booking terms, and we are happy to talk them through before you commit — just ask.
